WHAT TO EXPECT

Your First Infusion Visit at Premier Cancer Care and Infusion Center

Your first infusion visit may feel overwhelming, but our team at Premier Cancer Care and Infusion Center is here to make the experience as smooth and comfortable as possible. Knowing what to expect can ease any anxiety and help you feel prepared. Here’s a step-by-step guide on what to expect during your first infusion visit.

  • Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by our friendly front-desk staff, who will guide you through the check-in process. We’ll review your information, verify insurance, and ensure that all necessary paperwork is complete. If you have any questions about the treatment or logistics, feel free to ask our team.

  • Next, you’ll meet with your infusion team, which may include a nurse, physician, or other specialists involved in your care. They’ll review your treatment plan, discuss any pre-treatment instructions, and answer any questions you may have about the process. This is a great time to share any allergies, sensitivities, or concerns so that our team can ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

  • Once settled in the infusion room, our team will help you get comfortable and set up any necessary equipment. We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing and bringing any personal items (such as a blanket or favorite book) that might help you feel at ease during treatment.

Your nurse will then prepare an IV line for the infusion. The process is quick and minimally invasive, and we’ll take every step to make you as comfortable as possible.

  • During your infusion, the medication will be administered at a carefully controlled pace to ensure optimal effectiveness. Treatment duration varies based on the medication type and dosage, so your nurse will provide an estimated timeframe for your specific infusion.

You’ll have access to amenities like comfortable recliners, Wi-Fi, and refreshments to make the experience more relaxing. Feel free to bring a book, tablet, or headphones if you’d like some entertainment or a distraction.

  • Throughout your infusion, our team will monitor your response to the treatment and ensure everything is going smoothly. Our compassionate staff is here to address any discomfort or concerns you might have, and you’ll be free to ask questions at any time.

  • Once the infusion is complete, we’ll remove the IV and go over any post-treatment instructions with you. Your nurse will provide information on possible side effects, as well as tips on how to care for yourself in the hours and days following the treatment. You’ll also receive a number to contact us with any questions or concerns after you leave.

  • If additional treatments are part of your care plan, we’ll assist you in scheduling the next appointments before you leave. This helps us keep your treatment on track and ensures you have the necessary support for the duration of your care.

PREPARATION

Preparing For Your First Infusion Visit

Your first infusion visit might feel new, but our team at Premier Cancer Care and Infusion Center is here to make the process as comfortable and straightforward as possible. Here’s what to keep in mind:

Stay Hydrated

Hydration before and during your infusion can make the process more comfortable. We recommend drinking water in the hours leading up to your appointment.

Bringing Comfort Items

Feel free to bring along anything that helps you relax, such as a blanket, pillow, or a device like a tablet or e-reader. Small items like these can make your time with us more enjoyable.

Eating Before Your Infusion

Hydration before and during your infusion can make the process more comfortable. We recommend drinking water in the hours leading up to your appointment.

Infusion Time

The duration of your infusion depends on the specific treatment you’re receiving. Some infusions may be brief, while others take longer. Our team will provide an estimate for your specific treatment so you can plan accordingly.

Dress Comfortably

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms for the infusion. This will help make your visit more relaxed and convenient.

Medication List

Please ensure we have an updated list of all medications, vitamins, and supplements you’re taking. This helps us tailor your treatment plan and minimize any potential interactions.

Updated Contact Information

Make sure we have your current contact details, including a phone number and emergency contact, so we can reach you if needed during or after your infusion.

Arranging Transportation

If you’re wondering about driving after your infusion, we recommend arranging a ride to and from your first visit. For future appointments, you may feel comfortable driving yourself, depending on how you respond to the treatment.
